The Columbus Blue Jackets have cleared a significant hurdle in Isac Lundestrom's injury recovery. The Swedish center underwent successful surgery to repair his right Achilles tendon, which he ruptured during offseason training, with a projected return window targeting early November—roughly 3.5 months from the procedure date.

This is Lundestrom's second major Achilles injury in three years. He tore his left Achilles during 2023 offseason training, survived the recovery, and played 68 games last season (2025-26) with a modest four goals and eight assists for 12 points. The repeat injury carries both psychological and physiological weight: soft-tissue tolerance diminishes after a first rupture, and dual Achilles issues raise long-term durability questions for a player already sidelined by a broken finger in 2023-24. That said, the successful surgical outcome removes uncertainty around infection, graft failure, or extended complications that could have pushed his availability into December or later.

Lundestrom signed a two-year, $2.6 million deal with Columbus as an unrestricted free agent in July 2025, betting on a fresh organizational environment after eight seasons in Anaheim.
