The throughline across all of this: books set lines based on projected lineups, and with this many question marks unresolved at first pitch, sharp bettors are playing team totals and first-five-inning unders in games where offensive depth is already compromised. The Cubs-Padres under at Petco with a gimpy Cubs lineup is the cleanest play on the board. The Royals-Athletics total also deserves a downward nudge given the dual injury cloud on both sides.
